Before I thought it was a joke, that people were becoming immensely paranoid over a little flu going around. But now that it's back, it's exponencially dangerous, countries globally getting prepared for a virus with no direct cure found. Specialists and the World Health Organization says that it will hit us beginning of fall. A few months ago, I spotted a news article on naver.com about Korean scientists who developed a cure for the H1N1 virus, but time has passed with no further news on it. When I saw that little snippet of the article, I was relieved that another pandemic was prevented from killing millions of people worldwide, but now I'm worrying again. This morning when I read the Sunday Star (Toronto Star), my stomach turned; because of the civic strike going on Toronto and having over 20 days worth of garbage piled in public parks and golf courses, the virus will spread, contaminate, and kill twice as more. One scientist from the article said, "The point is to save as much people possible during a pandemic." I know some people will suffer and that some will die, but like what the scientist said, shouldn't we all give an effort to save as much as we can? Also about the CUPE strike, I read countless articles on how no one will win from the strike; once the strike ends (hopefully soon), the workers will have 28 days worth of work to do, the citizens of Toronto are on the brink of carrying out a riot, everyone lost hundreds of dollars, so what is the point, really? I'm just upset at how people can put politics and money before individual lives. But then again, it has always been like that in the course of human history, no?
